D.A.V. AIDED SCHOOLS
– EDUCATIONAL HERITAGE
D.A.V. Aided Schools have played a pivotal role in bringing
about the educational renaissance in the country. Ever
since the first D.A.V. School was founded in 1885 at Lahore,
the D.A.V. Movement has been spreading the light of learning
throughout the country and providing quality education
to the masses based on vedic values. Education, as we
all know, is the most effective tool, to fight the ills
prevailing in the society. The pioneers of the D.A.V.
Movement Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Mahatma Hans Raj
Ji realized the efficacy of education to bring about positive
changes in the society and thus educational institutions
were opened to dispel the darkness of illiteracy, ignorance,
injustice and inequality prevalent in the society. The
D.A.V. Movement was guided by the principles of selfless
service to the society. The sapling sown by Swami Dayanand
Saraswati has now grown up as a huge tree with strong
branches providing education to the different sections
of society in diverse fields as well as nurturing the
talent of the future citizens of the country by channelizing
their unlimited energies in the right directions. This
well grown / mighty tree is firmly rooted by the strong
vedic values and principles of Arya Samaj.
Realizing the immense contribution rendered
by the DAV Movement and other such organizations in the
field of education and to fulfill its social obligations,
the Government provided Grant-in-aid to these schools
to realize the objectives of the National System of education.
These schools have a very rich history and old tradition
of providing excellent education inculcating vedic values
among the students. These schools, popularly referred
to as traditional schools, became synonymous with excellence
in education, co-curricular activities, sports, cultural
activities and discipline besides instilling moral, ethical
and spiritual values among the students. The general public
reposed their faith in these institutions and as a result
the aided schools became the most sought after institutions.
These schools aim at producing not only intellectually
brilliant but also morally upright men and women.
