E-learning
Today there is a widespread development of information
technology in India. Computer education is catching up
fast. The DAV schools are working to keep pace with this
development by integrating latest information and communication
technologies for creation of technology enable learning
environment.
Eco-Friendly Schools
The DAV schools take special care to make the students
aware and conscious of their environment. While making
them aware of the threats and concerns vis-à-vis
environment, they are encouraged to keep their surroundings
clean and pollution free. These campaigns ensure that
not only the students are aware of their responsibilities
but are also able to spread the message to their neighborhood
community. There are tree plantation drives around the
DAV schools to create green and eco friendly ambience
in the schools as well as neighbourhood. Paper is recycled
and used with discretion, thus making the students more
responsible citizens in the long run.
Community Service
The value-based education provided in DAV Schools is a
combination of theory and practice. The children are given
an opportunity of experiential learning through a number
of community service projects that involve awareness campaigns
and relief work among the underprivileged and poor in
the neighborhood slums. A major initiative taken up by
number of DAV Schools is working with the differently
abled children through special schools running within
their premises.
In-service Training
There are regular efforts to upgrade the principals and
teachers knowledge and skills through regular in-service
training programmes. The EDUSAT satellite network of the
MHRD is used to provide them latest information and keep
them updated and in tune with latest developments in field
of education.
Value Based Education
The DAV Managing Committee regularly organizes camps to
instill the values of service towards society and nation
in the students like heart check up camps for teachers,
staff and senior citizens. The organization of these Awareness
camps is managed by Arya Yuvak Samaj. In these camps students
from different DAV schools from various parts of the country
come together for a week. They share their experiences
and in the process also learn to develop a community feeling
and sense of discipline. DAV schools come up with many
schemes to help bright students of economically weaker
families. They are not charged any fees and are granted
scholarships besides providing school uniforms and books
to them. As a gesture towards social responsibility, DAV
schools provide Literacy centers for those who missed
out in their early education. No fees is charged from
those coming to these Literacy centers. On the contrary
they are given incentives to come and avail the services.
The girls coming to the Literacy camps and centers are
also provided vocational training so that they are able
to fend for themselves in the future. They are provided
with machines and other equipment during the period of
their training.
Many DAV schools run manovikas kendras
for children who are mentally challenged. These kendras
are attended by mentally challenged children and they
are educated and trained in different subjects with the
help of latest techniques and equipments. DAV students
take full advantage of these facilities.
Today there is no field of activity in
which some or the other DAV student is not playing a significant
role. Of the many martyred in the Kargil war, quite a
few were ex-DAV students. Many DAV students came forward
to help in the Orissa and Gujrat crisis. It is for these
reasons that DAV schools have earned a place of pride
in the heart of Indian society.
Uniform Text Books for DAV Public Schools
To achieve uniformity in syllabus and maintain a high
standard in DAV Public Schools, DAV Education Board has
designed uniform test books for clasees L.K.G. to VIII
in all the DAV Public Schools in the country.
It is a matter of great satisfaction that now DAVCMC has
its own textbooks for Classes- LKG to VIII. The manuscripts
of these books are prepared by the practising teachers from
different streams of school education. These manuscripts
are then discussed with the experts of various curriculum
areas in order to make them user-friendly. From time to
time, as per the changes made in National Curriculum, the
textbooks are revised and updated.
Multimedia in Education
Seeing the importance of IT technology, DAVEB initiated
a project to prepare appropriate software designed specially
to satisfy the curriculum requirements of DAV Schools.
DAVEB has prepared a Multimedia CD titled ‘e.wiz
kid’ (Class-I) covering all the curriculum areas
and the same has been made available to the schools. The
Schools were then asked to give the feedback on the same,
which was found quite encouraging. This feedback had helped
in conceptualizing the format of Multimedia CD of Class-II.
Now, we have come out with the Multimedia CD titled ‘e.wiz
kid’ (Class – II).
Audio CDs
DAVEB has come out with an audio CD for Pre-Primary Classes
titled 'Rhythmic Rhymes'. DAVEB has also prepared a CD
for listening comprehension titled 'Listen and Comprehend'
for Classes – III to VIII. These CDs are designed
to help the students in developing both listening and
speaking skill of English language. The same has been
made available to the schools.
Educational Kits
For Early Childhood section of the school, i.e. Class-LKG
to II, DAVEB DAVEB has prepared Educational Kits titled
‘Me & My Child’. This 'Fun World' comprises
interesting play material in the form of games. Each kit
has a detailed guide manual titled ‘Me & My
Child’ with it which navigates a teacher and parent
how to use the material. In addition to this, the manual
contains some more activities that can be undertaken with
the help of materials that may be easily available around
us. The activities have been conceived so as to focus
on the overall development of a child in various areas
like, language, intellectual, physical, emotional and
creative. Now DAVEB has come out with a revised and colourful
edition of the Me & My Child kit only for Pre-School/LKG
children. This educational kit is titled as ‘Child
Craft’ (An Interactive Activity Kit). The same also
has a revised manual titled ‘Child Craft’
(An Interactive Activity Manual).
Talent Search
There are many activities to develop the innate strengths
of the students and highlight their talents. There are
exhibitions on science and history to make the students
aware of their past and conscious of their present and
sensitive to their future. There are regular seminars
to make them sensitive to such latest national and global
issues. Book fairs are held to develop the reading habit
Career Counselling
There are regular career Counselling sessions to inform
them of the varied opportunities that lie ahead. Experts
are invited to special career guidance programs where
they interact directly with the students and offer them
regular advice. These programs help the students to select
their careers and carve their future.
